The Golden Helicopters

My friend Lauren said she would be coaching a soccer team through the Holladay Lion's Club and for Marley to join the team so Marley could play with Lauren's daughter, Lydia.  They had two 45 minute games a week for four weeks and 10-15 minute practices before hand.  After watching a few games, I realized that other teams either had much older children playing or they really practiced a lot more than the 15 minutes before the game because all of the opponents on the other teams seemed much more together than our team!!  It didn't help that Marley ran around the field with her arms hidden in her shirt or that her friend Hendrix Parkin did victory-type laps around the field for no reason as the other kids ran in a herd after the ball. Then some how they came up with a very unusual team name: The Golden Helicopters.  I ordered cleats for Marley, but they didn't come until after her soccer "season" was over.  Marley doesn't have any sort of tennis shoes so she had to wear some Mary-Jane-type shoes and regular socks because she didn't want to wear the soccer socks.  I guess whoever was in charge of ordering uniforms for the kids thought that the children were 10-12 years old, not 4-5 year old.  The uniforms were HUGE! Most of the kids were drowning in them!!  But it was still so much fun to see her play and I think she had fun, mostly because she got to see her friends.  She did mention that she thought it wasn't as fun as it could be because she didn't score any goals.  But to score goals, you have to pay attention!

Marley looks really slopped together!
