Playing in Paradise...Kauai Hawaii

We love, love, love to travel and will go anywhere, but for some reason, Hawaii is just in our blood! We love getting to visit & being able to take things at a slow island pace! We someday hope to have a little place to stay in Hawaii so we can visit as often as we want!!

We went rented bikes in Kapa'a Beach Park and rode up the bike path, which gave incredible views of the coast. We saw Opaeka'a & Wailua falls, the Menehune Fishpond, and the Tunnel of Trees. We ate Puka Dogs, JoJo's Shave Ice, & the best fish tacos ever! We went shopping at Hanapepe's Friday Night Art show & Kaua'i Village. Best of all, we got to lounge around on the beach...what's better than that?

This is the view from our room. The upgrade was definitely worth it!

Marley LOVED the little sandy pool the hotel offered. She was constantly wanting to go play in it. She got tan lines even though I was really generous with the waterproof 85 sunscreen. I guess she doesn't take after my pale skin!

Marley loved hanging out on the balcony...now instead of not wanting to smile for the camera, all she wants to do is say 'cheese' & do this goofy grin!

This is supposed to be a picture of a jellyfish but it's kind of hard to tell.

We rode the train at Gaylord's sugar cane plantation. Marley was obsessed with the chickens (which run wild all over the island after a hurricane dispersed them everywhere) & was always looking for them.

Wild boars also run wild all over the island & there's a year-a-round open season to hunt them. We saw these from the train ride & I thought the baby piggies were smelly, but really cute!

We got to feed the pigs. Marley was kind of afraid of them so she made us feed them while she watched.
We ate this little place called Hamura Samin Stand. It served these noodle bowls which remind me of something my mom & Grandma Orie would've have put together. It was really delicious but the counter we sat at made me smile because it was only about 2 1/2 feet off the ground. It was definitely a local place to eat!

Marley always wakes up with bed head, but the humidity made her bed head double the size! It was so much curlier because of the weather!

We went to 'Anini Beach Park because of the relatively small waves for Marley. We had taken her to the beach at our hotel & the bigger waves made her fearful!

The weather was hit and miss every 15-30 minutes. It would be nice & sunny then get really windy & rainy.

Even though it's probably a huge no-no, we fed the chickens on 'Anini beach because Marley was so enthralled with them!
This was at the point on 'Anini beach where the weather turned. As you can tell, Marley isn't too happy to be stuck in the tent while it was raining and the neighbors to the left of us tried to weather out the storm by hiding under their beach towels.

We happened upon 'Baby Beach' during our delightful bike ride. Marley absolutely LOVED this beach. There's a reef making the water very shallow and super calm. She met lots of kids her own age that she had a great time hanging out with them!!

JoJo's was listed as the best 'shave' ice on Kauai and it really was as we had tried other place that offered 'shave' ice as well. Even though it was good, it didn't quite beat Matsumoto's Shave Ice on Oahu!

Kamalani Playground was a fantastic playground. Marley loved it...but we weren't able to stay as long as we liked because all the equipment started getting really hot & we started to sweat like racehorses!!

Right after we got the wonderful news that the Phoenix Suns swept the San Antonion Spurs in the Western Confrence NBA Semifinals, we got to celebrate by checking out Wailua falls. These falls are amazing & if we didn't have Marley, we would've looked into hiking into them!

This is the best family picture we could get with Kevin taking the picture! I love Marley's face in the bottom picture!

The falls are so impressive!
This is Kalapaki Bay...if only our lawn could look this good!
Marley & I took a walk on the Kalapaki Bay beach. I had to take a picture of her cute little foot prints!

Of course when we get someone else to take our picture, Marley won't cooperate!

Baby Number Two

Here is the first ultrasound of baby number two! We get to find out what we are having the third week in May!

Someone's going to be a big sister...

We would've sent out these annoucements sooner but had a REALLY hard time with Marley cooperating in pictures & having a day nice enough to take them outside! Then when we finally get a picture, I mess up the card by not utilizing spell check! Oh well! Such is life! Below are some of the pictures we took of her. We took tons before we found one we thought was kind of cute! When we ask her if she wants a sister or brother, she almost always says sister. We will see!!!

Wheeler Farm

Marley & I joined Maren & Mack on a little trip to Wheeler Farms. Marley & I had never been, and I honestly don't know if Marley has really seen any farm animals in person, except maybe a few horses here & there. She was actually really scared of the larger animals, like the cows & horses. She did love the bunnies & the ducks!

Unfortunately, I was lazy & didn't get too many pictures. And sadly, none of Mack & Marley together!

Happy Easter

Last year we spent Easter with our friends, Karl, Chantae, & Charlie in San Diego. Unfortunately, we weren't able to repeat that but Marley definitely was more into Easter this year!

She was really impressed with her Easter Basket.

However, she had the most fun going on an Easter Egg hunt. We did the first one in my mother's front yard but she drug Alece & Tina out again & again all over the yard to do multiple hunts. She didn't care much for what was in the eggs, just that she wanted to be able to 'hunt' for them.

She absolutely loved hunting for those eggs!

Pictures of my Uncle David, Brother Seth, Brother Jono, & Sister-in-law Tina with Marley.

My half-brother Rory & his wife Kim & their kids made a surprise visit! It was so good to see them! I haven't seen them in ages! Last time I saw them, their oldest, who is now almost 14 was only 5!
